D4vd may have several connections to the late Celeste Rivas, but police have yet to name him a suspect in her death because of one major detail.

According to a report Complex published on Monday, October 6, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 20-year-old singer is not considered a suspect because her exact cause of death has yet to be determined. Rivas was found in the front trunk of d4vd's Tesla last month, but investigators say it's "very likely" her body may have been lying lifeless for weeks before it was discovered.

“The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez's death,” the LAPD said in a statement. “As such, it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body."

As we reported, Rivas' death certificate was released last week, but the medical examiner deferred her cause of death. The M.E. is reportedly still waiting on toxicology results and is working with police to find out exactly how she died. Investigators searched the vehicle and traced it to a home in Hollywood Hills, where d4vd once stayed. They executed a search warrant and looked for blood inside the home. As of this report, there's no update on what was found outside of the laptop computer and other bags of items that were taken from the home.

Investigators and Internet sleuths have confirmed various connections between d4vd and Rivas over the past few weeks. Celeste's mom confirmed she dated a guy named David and that they had the same tattoo. Fans have resurfaced videos of them together during livestreams and even pulled up a leaked song by d4vd named "Celeste." Despite all his alleged connections to the 15-year-old girl, no current evidence indicates d4vd's involvement in her death.

D4vd has yet to comment on the situation. If we do hear from him, the artist's statement may come from his newly-hired attorney. D4vd reportedly hired famed defense attorney Blair Berk to represent him as the investigation continues.
