White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood is ready for conversations about her teeth to be over.
Wood has been a stealing scenes throughout season three of the hit HBO dark comedy, but a lot of the focus on her role has been on her appearance rather than just her performance, namely discussions about her smile and the "endearing gap" in her teeth, per Page Six. There have been several think pieces from prominent outlets, comments all over social media and even orthodontists on TikTok weighing in with their own opinions.
In a new interview with the Sunday Times, she expressed just how done she is with the topic.
"It's, like, cool and now I want to stop f---ing talking about it," she said, adding, "Can I talk about my character? Why am I talking about my gnashers? It's like now I'm just a pair of front teeth."
Even though much of the commentary about her smile has been positive, with her recently telling English talk show host Jonathan Ross that the American response to her "un-American" smile has been "lovely," the Sex Education actress seemingly still has complicated feelings about it.
"I understand what it represents. People feel more confident about their imperfections. It does feel a bit weird that the thing I got bullied for is now the thing that everyone's, like, 'Woo!'" she said. "It's still the thing that's defining me."
