Olivia Munn is sharing a new health update amid her health journey after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Newsroom actress took to her Instagram on Wednesday (September 4) to reveal the timeline of her cancer journey from diagnosis to where she stands today in order to shine light on her own experiences for others going through similar struggles and to show how she has "gone down the same path, and I'm doing OK," per E! News.
In the video, Munn shared that her mammograms and ultrasounds were "clear" in January 2022 and stayed that way until biopsies and ultrasounds in April 2023 revealed abnormalities and led to a diagnosis of bilateral breast cancer. The timeline detailed when she underwent surgeries throughout the rest of the year and into 2024, ending with an update from August where she started a new medication.
The X-Men: Apocalypse star has been open about her cancer journey after first revealing her diagnosis in March, around a year after first being diagnosed.
During an appearance on the June 4 episode of the SheMD podcast, Munn shared a vulnerable story about seeing her new body for the first time after undergoing multiple surgeries. The 44-year-old actress previously revealed she had a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction as well as a partial hysterectomy and oophorectomy.
"I cried a week after, because that was the first time I saw my breasts," she said. "I was by myself in my bathroom, and I looked at them, and I cried in a way that I don't think I've ever cried in my life. I cried. I was devastated. I just I didn't recognize myself."
Munn also shared how her health journey impacted the way she could parent her 2-year-old son Malcolm, whom she shares with husband John Mulaney, revealing how it was "one of the hardest things" she experienced.
