This weekend we got to chat with Maren Morris on #MostRequestedLive! Check out some of the highlights from her interview and then listen to the whole thing below!
On the success of her song "The Bones" and the new meaning it's taken on:
"I am just so flattered, because I wrote it years ago about my relationship with my now-husband, and I wrote it as a love song to him, and us withstanding any sort of storm and still being strong at the end of the day. I feel like people's interpretations of this song over the last year have taken on an even more worldly meaning, so that's been the most surprising factor. Even during this pandemic, people have quoted the lyrics to "The Bones" to talk about the world we're living in right now. We're in the home stretch of the hard times, and I love that it can kind of apply to whatever."
On being a new mom during the pandemic:
"It hits us all the time, we're like, 'Oh my God, we're parents, that's weird,' because he's only three months old. I feel like it's been such a silver lining throughout this quarantine, and pandemic, and the world feeling sort of unsettled, having this little baby and getting to spend all this extra time with him because I'm not touring, it just feels like this gift. You can't get these moments back; you can't get this time back. Watching him grow, and especially for the first year of his life, really getting to be home and start our lives as parents this way I feel like is an unintended gift."
On how she's going to spend Father's Day this weekend:
"It is his first Father's Day, so my parents are flying up from Texas. We're just going to have all our Dads over and just do a barbecue or something. I'm excited to celebrate him. Mother's Day was a couple months ago and I feel like I was celebrated and it was really special, and now we get to celebrate him."
On what it will be like when live shows are safe again:
"I think being a musician and an artist myself, I'll never take for granted again being in a live music space and getting to be with a ton of people all loving the same artist. I miss being a fan and going to shows myself, and then I miss being on the stage and so I think once we can all come together again safely and go see a show... I feel like people are gonna really really take stock of how special that is."
