Hilary Duff Teases Possible 'Lizzie McGuire' & 'Hannah Montana' Crossover

Could a Lizzie McGuire and Hannah Montana crossover be in the works? Hilary Duff says anything could happen!

The “So Yesterday” singer teased as much while sharing a progress report on Disney+’s upcoming Lizzie McGuire reboot in an interview with Cosmopolitan. The show has been delayed ever since the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic struck earlier this year — not to mention the controversy surrounding show creator Terri Minsky’s firing, which also caused a snag in production.

"So you know, we started shooting, we stopped shooting and went back to the drawing board with Disney+, Disney and myself to come up with something that works for all of us, and we're still in the middle of that process," she explained. "Everything kind of got put on hold, especially now because of COVID. But no, we're talking weekly and I feel really good about it."

Elsewhere in the discussion, the “Sparks” songbird gave her opinion on some popular Lizzie McGuire-inspired fan theories, including one that speculates the Miley Cyrus starrer, Hannah Montana, was inspired by Lizzie and Isabella’s storyline in The Lizzie McGuire Movie. "Oh my god, I've never heard that one," Duff responded. "But you might be starting something right now.”

The 32-year-old mommy-of-two then raised the idea of having Cyrus appear on the new Lizzie McGuire reboot, adding, "I don't know, I've never thought about a Hannah Montana and Lizzie McGuire crossover, but never say never! Anything goes these days, right?" (Eeek!!)

Considering the 27-year-old pop star has personally said she was inspired to audition for Hannah Montana because of Duff, a crossover between the two starlets seems written in the stars.
