Yohan, K-Pop Star & TST Singer, Dead At 28

TST singer Yohan has passed away. He was 28.

On Tuesday (June 16), K-pop lost another one of its rising talents with the death of Yohan, a member of the band formerly known as Top Secret. Per the Daily Mail, a cause of death has not yet been revealed.

TST’s label, KJ Music Entertainment, released a statement to local outlets confirming Yohan’s death. “We are sad to relay the most unfortunate, sorrowful news. Back on June 16, TST member Yohan left this world. The late Yohan's family is currently in deep mourning,” the label stated. “The family has pleaded that media articles about Yohan's passing, such as those making speculations about the cause of his death, be refrained out of respect. We express our deepest condolences in light of Yohan's final parting.”

A wake in Yohan’s honor will be held at Severance Hospital in Sinchon, and from there he will be buried at a Yongin cemetery on June 18.

The singer, whose real name was Kim Jeong-hwan, rose to stardom with a band called NOM in 2015 before joining Top Secret two years later after his first group disbanded. Yohan’s death comes just five months after TST dropped their first album, Countdown.

What makes Yohan’s passing even more disturbing is that it adds to the unsettling number of tragedies of several other K-pop stars. In less than a year, singer Sulli, 25, took her life in October 2019; pop star Goo Hara, 28, was found dead in her home in November 2019; and actor-singer Cha In Ha, 27, died in December 2019.
