The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards was the most-watched show on television Sunday, pulling in 8.3 million total viewers… but that’s down 18 percent from last year.

The awards show actually had more mentions on Twitter than they had viewers this year.

On social media, the VMAs were mentioned in 12.6 million tweets, and across Vine, Tumblr, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, MTV saw nearly 63 million social interactions during the night of the show.
