The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports that Loveland resident Cody Allen Powell, 23, turned himself in to Fort Collins Police in connection with the shooting of Loveland Police Officer Garret Osilka. Powell was booked into the Larimer County Jail and accused of attempted first degree murder of a peace officer and first-degree assault.

Powell will appear in court Wednesday and could be formally charged by the end of the week. Loveland police said the investigation is ongoing.

Osilka, 36, was shot during a traffic stop near 17th Street and North Wilson Avenue on Sunday night. Powell remains in intensive care at Medical Center of the Rockies, but is expected to survive.
