Bohemian Nights today announced the three national headliners that will anchor this year’s Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest, a free community music festival slated for Aug. 15-17 in downtown Fort Collins. The headliners are: Big Head Todd and the Monsters; Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo; and WAR.
In addition to the national headliners, the festival’s 10th anniversary music lineup will showcase a diverse pool of more than 70 new, emerging and established Colorado bands playing on six outdoor music stages throughout the weekend. Friday, August 15: Big Head Todd and the Monsters
Big Head Todd and the Monsters will perform at Bohemian Nights at New West Fest on Friday, August 15.
Big Head Todd and the Monsters will take the stage on Mountain Avenue at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. The performance will be simulcast at the Library Park Stage.
Founded as a trio in Boulder in 1986, Big Head Todd and the Monsters quickly built a strong reputation on the local club circuit.
More than 25 years later, the original trio—Todd Park Mohr on guitar and vocals, Brian Nevin on drums and vocals and Rob Squires on bass and vocals—along with keyboardist/pedal steel guitarist Jeremy Lawton, who joined in 2004, continue to tour nationally. The group has played Denver’s historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre more than 20 times, and is embedded in the fabric of Colorado’s music scene.
Saturday, August 16: Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo
Rock legends Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo will perform at Bohemian Nights at New West Fest on Saturday, August 16.
On Saturday, Aug. 16, an 8:30 p.m. performance by rock legends Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo on the Mountain Avenue Stage will wrap up a full day of Bohemian Nights performances. To accommodate a large turnout, the show will be simulcast at Library Park.
The powerhouse duo is behind one of the largest arsenals of rock hits including "Love is a Battlefield," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," "Heartbreaker," "We Live For Love," "Promises In The Dark" and "We Belong." Together, with Benatar's mezzo-soprano vocal range and Giraldo's trail-blazing work as a guitarist, producer and songwriter, Pat Benatar and Neil "Spyder" Giraldo have forged one of the most successful partnerships in rock and roll history.
Since their initial collaboration 35 years ago on the debut album "In The Heat of the Night," they have sold more than 26 million albums and charted 19 Top 40 singles, earning four consecutive Grammy Awards and three American Music Awards.
Sunday, August 17: WAR
WAR will close out Bohemian Nights at New West Fest on Sunday, August 17
The band WAR will make a special return appearance to the festival stage after headlining 10 years ago at the first Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest. WAR is known for the hit songs "Lowrider," "Cisco Kid," "Why Can’t We Be Friends?," "The World is a Ghetto," "Slippin’ into Darkness" and "Spill the Wine."
The band’s mix of funk; jazz; rhythm and blues; and rock and roll has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide since 1969.
WAR’s performance begins at 5:30 p.m. on the Mountain Avenue Stage and will close the festival weekend.
