Free Rides on MAX Ending Saturday

The MAX Bus Rapid Transit service will begin charging for rides effective Monday, August 24 after providing free service to riders during the summer. 

MAX fares cost the same as a single ride on Transfort busses. The fares are as follows:

Single ride


Seniors (60+)


Disabled and Medicare


Youth (17 & younger) with approved ID


CSU students, faculty and staff with RamCard




Late-Night Downtown Service (Green & Gold Routes) - Cash Only

$.50 - Seniors (60+), Disabled & Medicare

When boarding the MAX bus, do not show your ticket to the driver. Instead, hold onto it and be prepared to show it to a Transit Service Officer once on board. 

Hold onto your ticket when on the MAX bus. It can be used to transfer to a bus on the Transfort system. 


Passes are the best way to save money. Passes are available for 1 day, 7 days, 31 days or annually. One day, 7 day and 31 day passes can be purchased at MAX station ticket machines; other passes can be purchased at the South, CSU or North transit centers.
