Award-winning Loveland poet Veronica Patterson will appear at the Loveland Museum/Gallery on Friday, December 13 for a free poetry reading and book signing event from 6:00 to 8:00 pm during Night on the Town. She will read from her newest chapbook, Maneuvers, which was inspired by the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
Veronica Patterson has four published poetry collections and two chapbooks. Her December 13 poetry reading offers a unique fusion of poetry and history, as she will read from her newest chapbook inspired by the iconic and controversial Battle of the Little Bighorn. Maneuvers (Finishing Line Press, 2013) features poems of the 1876 battle that were inspired by a range of sources including Lakota recollections, military records, the land, battlefield archaeology, letters, and artifacts from the time period. Patterson’s poetry reading will be accompanied by projected images and artifacts from the era.
Copies of Maneuvers will be available for purchase before and after the event for $12. Cash and check payments will be accepted. Patterson will also be available after the event to answer questions and mingle with visitors. Light refreshments will be served during the event.
Also taking place at the Museum during Night on the Town is a holiday-themed performance from a Thompson Valley High School music ensemble from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The student performers are raising funds for a trip next year and will be accepting tips and donations.
Individuals interested in learning more about Veronica Patterson’s poetry reading and book-signing or other events and activities at the Loveland Museum/Gallery should call the Museum at (970) 962-2410.
